United Methodist Camp - Monticello, Iowa

Pictured Rocks United Methodist Camp was established in 1961 as a summer camp and year-round retreat center. It is tucked away in a hilltop clearing on 74 acres, adjacent to Camp Courageous and surrounded by Pictured Rocks State Park where the scenic South Fork of the Maquoketa River winds through the limestone bluffs and timber. Owned and operated by the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, our purpose is to provide a place that nurtures the Christian spiritual growth of youth and families and promotes development of leaders to empower their local churches through Christian love. We strive to provide radical hospitality and to help and support all guests in accomplishing their ministry/retreat goals!

Facilities include a modern, climate-controlled retreat lodge with private bathrooms (capacity of 58), two smaller, rustic cabins (capacity of 20 ea) or two Outpost Yurts (capacity of 10 ea) for those that prefer to rough it. We are open in all seasons of the year and have been used for family reunions, day groups (meetings/trainings/sledding), retreats (youth, women, men, confirmation, Sunday School and Pastoral) and various other groups (Scouts, colleges, crafters).

Many different program activities are available to guests free of charge: sand volleyball, basketball, soccer, Frisbee golf, hiking and caving. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking and adventure programming (climbing wall, bouldering shed, rock bouldering and team building) are also available for an additional cost. Visit our website www.picturedrocks.org for more detailed information. To contact us call 319-465-4194 or email picturedrocks.camp@iaumc.org and we will be happy to answer your questions. We look forward to partnering with your group soon!
